What is AnyPod?

AnyPod, an Alexa skill developed by Harrison Digital Media, lets you play any podcast on your Alexa enabled device. Enrich yourself with thousands of comedy, drama, music, tech, news, education, and pop culture audio programs.

Benefits on AnyPod with Alexa:
  • Easy signup
  • Works with your existing Amazon account
  • No need to sign-up for additional services – enabled the once and it just works
Drawbacks of AnyPod with Alexa:
  • Doesn\’t support cross-platform listening so progress is only tracked from within Alexa
  • No access to premium content
  • Podcast catalog limited to what is currently available in Itunes

Anypod Directions:

  1. Go to your Alexa enabled device and say \”Alexa, enable AnyPod skill\”
  2. If that doesn\’t work – open the Alexa app.
    • Don\’t have the Alexa app? Instructions for getting the app available here. 
  3. Tap on the hamburger icon ().
  4. Select \”Skills & Games\”
  5. Search for “AnyPod” in the Skills section*.
  6. Select the “AnyPod” skill
  7. Then click “Enable”.
  8. You’ll then need to log in to your Amazon account and link it to AnyPod in order to used the AnyPod skill.
  9. Once you’ve linked your account, just ask your Amazon Echo (or any other Alexa enabled device):

    • Play a podcast: “Alexa, ask AnyPod to play Jupiter Saloon”

    • Subscribe to a podcast: “Alexa, ask AnyPod to subscribe to Jupiter Saloon.”

    • Play a specific episode: “Alexa, ask AnyPod to play episode 1 of Jupiter Saloon”

    • Jump to the first or last episode: “Alexa, ask AnyPod for the newest episode of Jupiter Saloon.”

    • Skip forward or back an episode: “Alexa, play the [next/previous] episode.”

Stitcher is an on-demand Internet radio service that focuses on news and information radio and podcasts.

Benefits on Stitcher with Alexa:
  • Cross-platform support for tracking listening progress through your Stitcher account
  • Access to free podcast episodes as well as optional premium content provided exclusively to Stitcher subscribers
Drawbacks of AnyPod with Alexa:
  • Requires you to sign-up for Stitcher before the skill can be used

Stitcher Directions:

  1. Open the Alexa app.
    • Don\’t have the Alexa app? Instructions for getting the app available here.

  4. Search for “Stitcher” in the Skills section*.
    • *Note that you’ll see two skills: our new one and the older Flash Briefing skill.
  5. Select the “Stitcher” skill
  6. Then click “Enable”.

    • If you don’t have one simply sign up on the Stitcher website or in one of our mobile apps — it’s free!
